This region features the Stratton Mountain ski resort, one of Vermont’s best-know ski venues. The ski area has fourteen lifts, including a high-speed base-to-summit gondola and four six-passenger lifts, 90% snowmaking, and 2003 feet of vertical.

The resort includes a “village” area right at the base of the mountain, with shops and restaurants. There are many rental opportunities on or near the mountain, ranging from vacation bargains to very luxurious condos, many of them newly built. The resort is partly located in the town of Stratton, and partly in Winhall (also known as Bondville).

For those seeking a variety of skiing and riding experiences, there are two smaller ski resorts – Bromley and Magic Mountain – very close by. The drive is not much longer to either Mount Snow to the south, or Okemo to the north.

Stratton is also a popular destination in warm weather. There are three separate 9-hole courses at the resort, and one can visit Jamaica State Park in nearby Jamaica to take a walk or swim in the popular swimming hole there.

Just a short drive to the west from Stratton is the shopping and cultural center of Manchester, a popular destination for family members who are not interested in skiing or riding.

This region is located in the central part of southern Vermont, and can be easily accessed by automobile from points to the south. Airport options include Hartford, CT, Albany, NY and Boston.
