This grand and charming three-acre property is set on a rise with views of the lake from all front rooms. The downstairs consists of a large living room with a fieldstone fireplace, a grand piano, oriental rug, and beamed ceilings. The dining room has three walls of windows and is sunlit most of the day; the large round table seats ten. A big country kitchen includes a dishwasher, frontloading washer, dryer, and a walk-in pantry loaded with cooking and baking equipment. The large porch facing west is perfect for afternoon tea or cocktails, while watching the sunlight filter on to the croquet lawn. Fire pit and herb garden just off the kitchen porch...
The upstairs has four bedrooms, a large sleeping porch, and a full bath with clawfoot tub. Two spacious master bedrooms each with queen bed share an adjoining balcony. One smaller bedroom sleeps one; the other sleeps two. A crib and bedside bassinet are available. The sleeping porch has one full and one twin bed.
Powder room and indoor/outdoor shower just off the kitchen.
The 2500 square feet of space is full of charming nooks for reading, contemplation, and play.
Renters may--and groups of 9-12 must--also rent the nearby annex, with large bedroom (one queen, one twin) and full bath upstairs, living/dining/kitchen area downstairs, in conjunction with the big cottage for an additional $1200/week. Joint rental of cottage and annex required in July 5 through August 16.
Plenty of pillows, blankets and quilts are provided. Renters must provide their own sheets, pillowcases, towels, and beach towels.
The boathouse has one room with twin bed (no plumbing) and balcony overlooking the docks and raft. Caspian Lake is among the cleanest bodies of water in Vermont -- excellent for swimming, kayaking, and bird watching. Shore is a gradually sloping sandy/pebbly bottom with trees and granite boulders along the water's edge. Lake access from one long dock and two boat skids. A raft offshore makes a destination for young swimmers and is great for sunning.
There is an adjacent clay tennis court open to tenants, provided that is it dry and that you sweep when finished.
The Vermont countryside offers countless hiking and mountain-biking destinations, and nearby nature preserves offer trails and picnic spots.
